Competition - Resource Center Park

Through conversations with East Austin community members (local artists, non-profit community leaders, and general neighborhood members), we explored how can community ‘togetherness’ be privileged in the context of COVID-19, during a time where social distancing is necessary to keep us safe and healthy?

Based on Austin’s history, soccer is a key component to our sense of community. Since soccer holds such importance, the soccer field is placed at the center of the site and can function as an auditorium and open space for socially-distanced performances (live music, movie night) and gatherings (farmer’s market, picnic).

North of the soccer field, a skate park encourages interaction between people from various backgrounds. The skate park also features a set of walls where mural art can be made and displayed by the community-- to express their cultural identity.
